Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Eze · Vadovič · Podkonický · Makky · Maroš · Boledovič ("C") · Csicsayi · Havlík · Záhorák · Šulák · BoháčŠamorín focuses on a defensive identity that relies on quick transitions. This lineup uses a 5-2-3 formation to stay compact and catch the opposition on the break. The team aims to defend in a low block and use the width of the pitch to stretch the play when they win the ball back.
Eze guards the goal as the lone goalkeeper. The defensive unit operates in a back five to protect the central areas. Boledovič sits in the middle as the central defender to win headers and clear the lines. Podkonický plays as a right centre back to cover the space, while Makky acts as the left centre back to provide balance. Maroš works as an attacking wing back on the right, and Vadovič performs the same role on the left to provide width. The unit functions to squeeze the space between the lines.
The midfield is a double pivot made up of Havlík and Záhorák. These two players must shield the defense and win the second ball to keep the pressure off the back line. Havlík and Záhorák connect the defensive third to the attacking third by playing through the lines. They often drop deep to pick up the ball from the defenders or push up to support the front three. Their job is to recycle possession and move the ball quickly to the wide areas.
In the attacking phase, the team uses three forwards. Šulák acts as the lone striker to find the feet of the midfielders and hold up the ball. Boháč plays as a left winger to attack the space, and Csicsayi operates as a right winger. These two aim to pull wide to stretch the defense or cut inside to create chances. When Šamorín transitions, the wingers look to run in behind the opposition full backs to create one on one situations.
This formation offers several advantages. The team achieves great compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. There is also a high potential for wide overloads because Maroš and Vadovič can overlap the wingers. This creates extra passing lanes and makes it harder for the opposition to track all the runners.
The 5-2-3 formation is built for a team that wants to defend deep and strike with speed. This formation is ideal for facing teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their defensive line.
