Audero acts as the lone man in goal to sweep behind a very high line. The defensive unit consists of a narrow duo of Dossena and Engelhardt who must be prepared to defend large amounts of space. Dossena and Engelhardt act as central defenders who need to be comfortable playing out from the back while being ready to cover wide areas if the opposition breaks quickly. The lack of full backs means these two must hold a compact shape and communicate constantly to prevent runners from getting behind them.

The midfield is organized as a double pivot combined with two attacking midfielders. Moreno and Van der Brempt operate in the central area to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. Moreno often tries to drive forward with the ball while Van der Brempt looks to sit deep and intercept play. In front of them, S. Roberto and Braunöder operate in the half spaces. S. Roberto and Braunöder press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and act as the primary link between the defensive block and the heavy attack.

The attacking front line utilizes two central forwards supported by two wide players. Cutrone and Belotti operate as a striking partnership, often looking to combine in tight spaces or run in behind the defense. Cutrone acts to hold up the ball while Belotti looks to make runs into the box. Da Cunha and Strefezza provide width by staying high, with Da Cunha looking to cut inside and Strefezza stretching the defence by pulling wide. This front four is designed to pin the last defender and create chaos in the penalty area through constant movement.
