Finley and Mason cover the wider spaces of the defensive line while Billy stays central to win the header and clear the lines. This unit must stay compact to avoid being caught by long balls, often pushing up to keep the distance between the defense and midfield small.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Karlan plays in the hole behind the forwards to connect the lines and play through the lines. Kobbie and Max sit slightly deeper to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball. They must track back to support the back three when possession is lost, ensuring the team does not get caught on the break.

West Brom uses four attackers to stretch the defence. Josh and Noah lead the line as a pair of center forwards, working to find the feet of the striker and run in behind. On the flanks, Grady and Tom act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to spread the play. They aim to isolate a one-on-one wide or deliver early crosses into the box. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
