The goalkeeper stays behind a back five to manage the defensive line. The RCB and LCB act as the central pillars, while the CDM sits just in front to shield the defence and intercept passes. The RWB and LWB function as attacking wing backs, providing width and pushing up the pitch when Milan has the ball. These wing backs are expected to track back to maintain a narrow defensive block when the opposition attacks, ensuring the team stays hard to beat.

The midfield works as a three-man unit designed to control the center of the pitch.
