Celta seeks to dominate the central areas and control the tempo through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to play with high intensity and use the width of the pitch to create passing lanes. The team wants to win the ball high up the pitch and move quickly through the middle to catch the opposition before they can settle.

Villar plays between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back three consists of Nuñez acting as the central defender to anchor the unit, with Angulo and Aidoo positioned on either side. Angulo and Aidoo act as wide centre-backs who can step up to engage attackers or cover the space behind when the wingers push high. Nuñez stays central to win the header and clear the lines when under pressure. This defensive unit maintains a high line to squeeze the space and keep the team compact.

The midfield functions with a central trio of Beltran, Sanchez, and Mingueza to control the game. Beltran acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession when the team needs to slow down. Sanchez and Mingueza operate as the engines, with Sanchez looking to drive forward with the ball and Mingueza working to link the defensive and attacking lines. Moriba and Bamba operate in the half-spaces as attacking midfielders to support the front two. Moriba and Bamba press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch, forcing the opponent to play long.

In the final third, Celta utilizes two forwards to stretch the defence. Douvikas plays as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition centre-backs and make runs in behind. Aspas works in a more creative role, often dropping into the hole to link up play between the lines and find the feet of the striker. The attacking unit relies on quick combinations and the movement of Moriba and Bamba to pull defenders out of position. This allows Aspas and Douvikas to find space to attack the near post or receive the ball in one on one situations.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to create numerical superiority in the midfield. By using five midfielders, Celta can easily overload the center and control the second ball. Another strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves, with Moriba and Bamba triggering the press while the rest of the team stays compact. The wide presence of the wingers allows the team to switch play quickly to find isolation opportunities.

The 3-5-2 formation makes Celta a very difficult team to play against in the middle of the park. This lineup is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and squeeze a high block.
