Moving higher, 11, 7, and 10 act as the connection between the lines. 11 and 7 can push into the half spaces to carry the ball forward, while 10 plays to find the feet of the striker. This group must press in a mid block to disrupt the opponent and win it back high up the pitch when possible.

The attacking unit is led by a lone striker, 9, who acts as a target man. 9 must hold up the ball and fight for possession to allow the midfield to move up the pitch. When Lecce plays in transition, 11, 7, and 10 make runs in behind to support the attack. The team aims to spread wide to stretch the defence and create opportunities for 9 to lay it off to arriving runners. The forwards are tasked to press from the front and force a long ball.

A major strength of this formation is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch.
