Starting Lineup

Burian · Baka · Vodera · Makky · Vadovič · Boledovič ("C") · Kamon · Janitor · Charvát · Záhorák · Havlík

Focusing on heavy verticality and rapid transitions, Šamorín employs a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overload the central areas and use wide attackers to stretch the opposition. The team relies on quick direct play to move from defense to attack, prioritizing speed over long periods of possession.

Burian starts in goal to manage the space behind the defense. The back line consists of a narrow two man unit with Makky and Vodera acting as the central defenders. These two must play in a high line to squeeze the space, with Makky and Vodera tasked with winning the second ball and clearing the lines when the opposition pushes forward. Because there are only two defenders, they must be ready to cover wide areas if the midfield is bypassed.

The midfield unit is the engine of this Šamorín formation, operating in a dense central block. Boledovič sits in the middle to shield the defense and recycle possession. Beside him, Vadovič and Baka act as the central engine, with Baka looking to drive forward with the ball while Vadovič maintains the central connection. Charvát and Janitor push higher into the half spaces as attacking midfielders, ready to support the front three. This five man midfield group works to win it back high up the pitch and compress the midfield.

The attacking trio uses the width of the pitch to create chaos. Kamon and Záhorák act as wide wingers who stay near the touchlines to spread the defense, creating space in the middle for Havlík. Havlík serves as the lone striker, looking to hold up the ball and find the feet of the runners. Charvát and Janitor provide additional support in the pockets, often making late runs into the box to finish cutbacks or loose balls. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This system offers significant tactical advantages through its heavy central density. The five man midfield allows the team to achieve numerical superiority in the center, making it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another strength is the ability to launch rapid transitions, using the width provided by Kamon and Záhorák to hit in behind on the transition.

The 2-5-3 formation is a high risk, high reward system built for aggressive pressing and quick strikes. It is best suited for games where the team can catch an opponent on the break or when they need to overwhelm a crowded midfield.
