Poland plays in a 4-5-1 formation and focuses on being defensively solid while hitting teams on the break. Beside him, Głowacki and the captain Zieliński © operate in the central spaces. Zieliński © uses his exceptional passing range and ability to receive on the half-turn to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Kłos and Koźmiński provide width on the flanks, often tasked to track back and help the full backs or spread wide to stretch the defence.

Up front, the team uses a lone striker in Madjan to lead the press and provide an outlet. Madjan must be able to hold up the ball. The midfielders look to find the feet of the striker to progress through the thirds. He is expected to make runs in behind to hit in behind on the transition. When the team wins possession, Kłos and Koźmiński can push up to support him, either by crossing on the run or by cutting inside to create numerical superiority.
