The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and a creative hub. Gabi Neves holds his position to shield the defense and recycle possession. E. Cetré works to drive forward with the ball to bridge the gap between the lines. B. Rollheiser, the captain, operates as the creative engine in the half-spaces, looking to find through balls or arrive late into the box. This trio works to compress the midfield and make it difficult for the opposition to play through the center.

In the final third, Estudiantes (LP) utilizes two forwards in a partnership to pin the last defender. G. Carrillo works as a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition build up from the back. D. Zapata, the captain, acts as the more advanced striker to lead the line and make runs in behind the defense. The team builds attacks by using the wing backs to pull wide and create situations where the strikers can run into the channels or link up play in tight spaces.

One major advantage of this lineup is the compactness when defending, making it very hard to find gaps between the lines. The formation also allows for wide overloads when J. Foyth and J. Silva push forward to join the attackers. This creates a numerical advantage on the flanks that forces the opposition to pull their wide players out of position.
