Starting Lineup

Lanús focuses on defensive stability and quick transitions using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opponent in transition. The team looks to congest the middle of the pitch and use the width provided by the wing backs to stretch play once they regain possession.

MAURI acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit works as a back five with TITO acting as the central man to organize the line. PIPA and GUILLE operate as wide centre-backs, providing cover to the flanks and winning headers in the air. ENZO and JOACO play as attacking wing backs, tasked with pushing high to provide width and tracking back to form a five man line when defending. The unit works to hold a compact shape and squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier. SANTI and EZE occupy the central roles to protect the back line and win the second ball. SANTI works to shield the defense while EZE looks to connect the defensive and attacking lines. JOSE plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, operating in the pocket to find space between the opposition midfield and defense. This trio helps Lanús to control the tempo and recycle possession once the ball is won.

In the attacking phase, the team uses two forwards in a partnership. FACU and AGU work together to lead the line, with FACU often looking to hold up the ball and AGU making runs in behind the defense. The wing backs, ENZO and JOACO, provide the width by overlapping the midfielders to deliver crosses into the box. This movement allows the strikers to stay central and pin the last defender, creating space for JOSE to arrive late into the box.
