Ledesma sits between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit stays in a flat back four with Bustos at right back and Acuña at left back. Bustos often pushes high to overlap the winger, while Acuña is tasked to cover the flank and whip it in with crosses. The central defense relies on REFUERZO as the right centre back and another REFUERZO as the left centre back to hold the line and win the header when balls come in. They must defend zonally and step up to set the offside trap when the team plays a high line.

In the center of the pitch, River utilizes a double pivot consisting of REFUERZO at left central midfield and REFUERZO at right central midfield. These two work to shield the defense and win the second ball. One REFUERZO acts as a deep lying playmaker to recycle possession, while the other REFUERZO looks to carry the ball forward to link the defense with the attack. They must press in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines and find the feet of the striker.

The attacking front line is aggressive with four players. Mastantuono operates on the right wing and uses his dribbling to cut inside and create chances, while the REFUERZO on the left wing stays wide to stretch the defense. In the center, Colidio and the REFUERZO playing as the second striker work in a partnership. Colidio often drops into the hole to link up play, allowing the other REFUERZO to make runs in behind. This formation allows the team to attack in combinations and hit in behind on the transition.

This formation offers massive attacking presence and the ability to win it back high up the pitch. By committing four players forward, River creates wide overloads and keeps the opposition pinned. The speed of transition is a major advantage because the players can break quickly once they win the ball.
