Nacional aims to dominate the pitch with a high press and verticality. This lineup utilizes a 2-5-3 formation to overwhelm the opposition in their own half. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opponent can settle into a defensive block.

Number 9 operates between the posts to manage the defense. The back line consists of a pair of central defenders, number 17 and number 7, who play a high line to squeeze the space. These two must be ready to cover long balls and defend against runners in behind. Because there are only two central defenders, they often step up to intercept passes or win the second ball, leaving the goalkeeper to act as a sweeper behind the high defensive line.

The midfield is a dense engine room designed to control the center. Number 16 and number 26 form a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Number 8 sits just ahead of them to connect the lines and drive forward with the ball into the attacking third. To add width and creativity, number 14 and number 11 operate in the half spaces. They look to receive on the half turn and play through the lines to reach the front three.

The attacking unit of Nacional pushes high to pin the last defender. A front three of number 4 on the left, number 23 on the right, and the striker leads the charge. Number 4 and number 23 act as wide wingers who stretch the defense to create gaps in the middle. The striker works to hold up the ball and link up play with the runners. When attacking, the formation looks to isolate wide players in one on one situations or deliver early crosses into the box for the striker to attack the near post or far post.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. With five players in the midfield, Nacional can often outnumber the opposition and win the second ball. The high press is also a major threat, as the front three and the advanced midfielders work to trigger a press in coordinated waves. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back without making mistakes.

This 2-5-3 formation is built for aggressive, high intensity football. It is best suited for games where Nacional needs to break down a low block through constant pressure and midfield dominance.
