Singo and Comuzzo form the central pairing, where Singo provides physical presence while Comuzzo focuses on covering the space and intercepting runs. The defensive unit works to keep the lines close to prevent the opposition from playing through the thirds.

A five man midfield provides the engine for Milan. Samuele Ricci and Y.Fofana work as a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. Reijnders plays as a carrier to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Leao operates in the left half space, using his dribbling style to carry the ball forward and create chaos, while Pulisic plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the striker or arrive late into the box.

The attacking unit relies on a lone striker, B.Sesko, who acts as a focal point to hold up the ball. Pulisic plays as a shadow striker to support him, often making runs in behind the opposition back line. Leao stays wider to pull the defender out of position, creating space for Pulisic or Reijnders to exploit. The team attacks in combinations, looking to use the width provided by the full backs to deliver crosses or find the players in the hole.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. The double pivot of Ricci and Y.Fofana allows the team to maintain compactness when defending, making it hard for opponents to find space between the lines. Additionally, the team creates wide overloads when Theo and Leao push up together, forcing the opposition to shift and leave gaps in the center.
