Starting Lineup

youssef · Brahim · Saad · Ali · Ayoubi · Yassine · Mohammed · Kamal · Yossef · Adil · Bono

FAR Rabat relies on a heavy defensive identity to absorb pressure and strike on the break, utilizing a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and protect the central area, making it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. The team aims to stay compact and wait for the right moment to transition from a deep block to a vertical attack.

Bono stands between the posts to command the area and organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a five man group where Ayoubi acts as the central defender to win the header and clear the lines. On either side, Saad and Brahim function as wide centre backs to provide cover and sweep behind the wing backs. Ali and youssef act as attacking wing backs who provide the necessary width, though they must track back to form a solid defensive line when the opposition has the ball.

The midfield is organized in a flat four to squeeze the space in the center of the pitch. Yassine acts as the single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Beside him, Mohammed and Yossef operate in the half spaces to win the second ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Adil plays in a more advanced role as an attacking ten, looking to find pockets of space to link the midfield to the front line.

Kamal operates as a lone striker and must work hard to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. He provides a central presence to allow the midfielders to join the attack during transitions. The team looks to use the width provided by Ali and youssef to stretch the defence, looking for cutbacks or long balls into the channels. When attacking, the forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball and regain possession high up the pitch.

This formation offers FAR Rabat significant compactness when defending, making them very hard to break down through the middle. The presence of three central defenders allows the team to maintain a narrow defensive block while the wing backs provide the ability to shift between shapes during a transition. By staying narrow, the team can easily switch play to the wide areas to exploit space.

This 5-4-1 formation is designed to be a defensively solid unit that punishes teams on the break. It is best suited for matches against dominant sides where FAR Rabat needs to defend in a low block and strike with speed.
