Starting Lineup

Mbeumo · Marmoush · Isak · Macca · Gravi · Jones · TAA · Murillo · Konate · Kerkez · Alisson

Liverpool focuses on a high press and heavy metal football through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike with immense speed. The goal is to squeeze the space and force errors from the opposition to launch direct attacks.

Alisson starts between the posts to command his area and sweep behind a high line. A flat back four provides the foundation with TAA playing as an attacking full back on the right. He will push high to provide width and whip it in from the flanks. Kerkez acts as the left back to support the defensive line while Konate and Murillo operate as the central duo. Konate brings significant aerial strength to win headers during set pieces, while Murillo covers the space left when the full backs push forward.

The midfield works as a three-man midfield with a carrier to link the lines. Gravi acts as the holding player to shield the defence and sit in front of the centre-backs. Macca and Jones operate as the two more advanced midfielders. Jones has the ability to carry the ball forward and drive into the half-spaces, while Macca works to press aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch. This trio works to compress the midfield and ensure they are not bypassed easily by the opponent.

In the attacking third, Liverpool uses three attackers across the front. Isak operates as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball. Mbeumo plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and find the feet of the striker. Marmoush stays wide on the left to stretch the defence and provide a different angle for crosses. The forwards are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

One major advantage for Liverpool is the ability to create wide overloads from the overlapping runs of TAA and Kerkez. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when they win the ball in the middle third. By having Macca and Jones press in pairs, they can trigger a press that catches many opponents out of position.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense physical output and rapid verticality. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
