Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Burian · Vadovič · Podkonický · Vodera · Baka · Havlík · Boledovič ("C") · Janitor · Záhorák · Charvát · CserepkaiFocusing on a direct and counter attacking style, Šamorín utilizes a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents on the break. The team looks to win the second ball and use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition during transitions.
Burian starts between the posts to command the penalty area. The defensive unit works as a back five with Havlík acting as the central anchor to win the header and clear the lines. To his sides, Vodera and Podkonický act as wide centre-backs to cover the channels and pick up runners. The wing backs, Baka and Vadovič, are tasked with providing width and much of the attacking output. Baka and Vadovič must track back to form a compact five when the team drops into a low block.
The midfield consists of a two man unit. Boledovič and Janitor work to control the center of the pitch. Janitor and Boledovič must press in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. One of them acts to shield the defence while the other looks to carry the ball forward and link the defensive unit to the front three. They aim to intercept passes and immediately find the attackers to start the break.
In the final third, Šamorín employs three attackers. Záhorák acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and wait for support. On the flanks, Cserepkai and Charvát operate as wide wingers to stretch the defence. Cserepkai and Charvát often look to cut inside to create central presence or provide a cross from the byline. The attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, allowing the back five to contest aerial duels.
This formation offers significant defensive compactness when the team sits deep in a low block. The use of Baka and Vadovič as wing backs allows for wide overloads once the transition begins. By using the back five, Šamorín can also protect the central zones effectively and make it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines.
Šamorín relies on a disciplined defensive block and rapid transitions to catch opponents off guard. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
