Starting Lineup

Burian · Vadovič · Podkonický · Vodera · Baka · Havlík · Boledovič ("C") · Janitor · Záhorák · Charvát · Cserepkai

A high pressing and vertical way of playing defines Šamorín in this 2-5-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move quickly towards the opposition goal. By using a narrow defensive base and a heavy midfield presence, the team aims to dominate the center of the pitch and use wide players to stretch the opposition.

Burian stays between the posts to command his area. Ahead of him, Vodera and Podkonický act as the two central defenders in a very aggressive back two. They must play a high line to squeeze the space, with Podkonický often tasked to step up and intercept play. Because there are only two players at the back, they must be ready to cover wide areas and win the second ball if the initial press is bypassed.

The midfield unit is the engine of the Šamorín lineup. Havlík and Boledovič operate as the central core, with Boledovič looking to drive forward with the ball while Havlík works to shield the defence. Janitor and Baka occupy the right side of the midfield block, providing width and helping to transition from defence to attack. On the left, Vadovič acts as a wide midfielder who can push high to support the front line. This five man unit works to compress the midfield and win possession in central areas.

In the attacking third, the team utilizes three forwards to pin the last defender. Záhorák leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, looking to find the feet of his teammates or run in behind. Cserepkai and Charvát play as wide attackers, with Cserepkai cutting inside to create central threats and Charvát looking to get to the byline. These three work in combinations to split the defence with through balls and quick movements.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back. The central density provided by the five midfielders allows the team to win the ball back high up the pitch. Additionally, the presence of Baka and Vadovič allows for wide overloads when the wingers move inside, creating space for them to carry the ball forward.

This 2-5-3 formation relies on an aggressive intent to dominate the middle of the park through constant pressure. It is a lineup best suited for games where the team needs to overwhelm an opponent through sheer intensity and rapid transitions.
