Starting Lineup

Reina/Audero · Van der Brempt (Goldaniga) · Dossena · Kempf · Moreno · Perrone (Engelhardt) · Roberto (Da Cunha) · Strefezza · Nico Paz · Fadera · Cutrone (Belotti)

Driven by an aggressive and vertical intent, Como utilizes a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to attack with high intensity, using the front four to pin the opposition defense and create constant pressure. The goal is to win the ball back high up the pitch and move the ball forward quickly to exploit spaces.

Reina/Audero stays between the posts to direct the defensive unit. The team defends with a flat back four, utilizing Van der Brempt and Moreno as the full backs. Van der Brempt and Moreno are tasked to provide width and support the attackers, while Dossena and Kempf form the central defensive pair. Dossena covers the space behind the full backs, while Kempf works to win headers and block runners in the box. The defensive line must hold a high line to keep the team compact and squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield functions as a double pivot to provide a layer of protection for the defense. Roberto and Perrone occupy these central roles. Perrone focuses on winning the second ball and intercepting passes to stop transitions. Roberto works to receive the ball from the defenders and carry the ball forward to break the line. They must work to shield the center of the pitch and ensure the team is not outnumbered when the full backs push high.

The attacking lineup features four players positioned to stretch the opposition. Fadera and Strefezza play as wide wingers, with Fadera looking to cut inside into the half-spaces and Strefezza acting to pull wide and whip it in toward the goal. In the center, Nico Paz and Cutrone operate as a two-man strike force. Nico Paz is able to drop into the pockets to link play with the midfield, while Cutrone works to hold up the ball and find teammates in tight spaces. This combination allows the team to attack in combinations and deliver crosses from wide areas.

A major strength of this formation is the ability to press in coordinated waves, using the four forwards to trigger a press. This puts immediate pressure on the opposition goalkeeper and defenders. Additionally, Como benefits from the speed of transition, moving the ball quickly through the double pivot to the wide areas to isolate players in one on one situations.

The 4-2-4 formation is a high-risk, high-reward lineup focused on attacking dominance and aggressive pressing. It is best suited for games where the opponent plays a low block and can be pressured into making mistakes.
