AEK relies on a direct and aggressive identity centered around a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to hit teams quickly in transition and maintain a high level of pressure across the pitch. By using two banks of four, the team looks to compress the space between the lines and force mistakes from the opposition in their own half.

At the back, ATMATZIDIS guards the goal while the defensive unit maintains a flat back four. BORBOKIS operates as the right back to provide width, while KASAPIS takes the left back position. KAPSIS and DELLAS act as the central defenders, with KAPSIS looking to win headers and DELLAS providing cover when the line steps up. The back four functions as a single block to deny through balls and force play toward the flanks.

The midfield acts as a powerhouse with a three-man central group that supports the two banks. KATSOURANIS plays as a single pivot to shield the defense and collect the ball from the back four. PINEDA and SAVEVSKI operate as central midfielders to win the second ball and drive the play forward. ARAUJO plays as an attacking ten in the hole, looking to find pockets of space between the opposition midfield and defense to connect the lines.

AEK attacks with two forwards who look to exploit space behind the defense. SCOCCO leads the line as the left striker, while LEVI GARCIA plays as the right striker. These two forwards press the opposition back line to win the ball high up the pitch. The team uses the movement of ARAUJO to create link up play between the lines, allowing the strikers to make runs in behind or receive the ball to hold it up for the oncoming midfielders.

One major advantage for AEK is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front four. The presence of ARAUJO behind the two strikers creates numerical superiority in the central areas during the attacking phase. This formation also allows for quick transitions, as the midfielders can immediately find the forwards once the ball is won.

This 4-4-2 formation provides AEK with a solid platform to control the middle of the park through heavy pressing. It is a lineup best suited for facing teams that struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
