The midfield functions as a four man unit designed to control the central zones. KATSOURANIS acts as the single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Beside him, PINEDA and SAVEVSKI work to connect the lines and carry the ball forward. ARAUJO operates as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to play through the lines and find pockets of space. This midfield group works to win the second ball and press in a mid-block when the opposition has the ball.

AEK uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. LEVI GARCIA and SCOCCO work together to lead the line, with LEVI GARCIA often looking to find space in behind. The two attackers are tasked to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. They use combinations to break the line and create chances.
