Starting Lineup

Astrid · Julia · Grøn · Malou · Silja · Mille · Phiona · Schulz · Frikke · Høgild · Hvid

B.93 looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move the play forward with directness through a 4-4-2. This formation is built to maintain a compact block while looking to exploit the space behind the opposition defense. The team wants to be proactive in their pressing and quick to move from a defensive stance into an attacking one.

Astrid sits between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four functions as a flat defensive unit with Silja and Julia operating as the wide defenders. Silja is tasked to overlap when the team has possession, while Julia must stay narrow to cover the center. In the middle of the defense, Malou and Grøn operate as central defenders who must hold the line and win the second ball. They work together to defend zonally and make sure the opposition cannot play through the middle.

The midfield works in two lines of two to squeeze the space in the center of the pitch. Phiona and Schulz act as a central pairing where Schulz is often tasked to carry the ball forward and Phiona works to shield the defense. Mille and Frikke provide the width in the wide areas, with Mille playing on the left and Frikke on the right. These wide midfielders must track back to help the full backs and press in pairs to deny the opposition time on the ball. The midfield unit connects the defense to the attackers by recycling possession and looking to play through the lines.

B.93 utilizes two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Høgild and Hvid work together up front to pin the last defender and create chances. Høgild plays as the more advanced striker to chase through balls, while Hvid works to hold up the ball and lay it off to teammates. The two attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This setup creates many runs in behind and relies on the strikers to combine in tight spaces when they receive the ball.

One clear advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the two banks of four. This makes it difficult for opponents to build play from the back. Another strength is the numerical equality in the wide areas, which allows Silja and Julia to support the attack without leaving the defense exposed. B.93 can also switch play quickly to find the wingers in one on one situations.

This 4-4-2 lineup is designed to be a hard team to break down through its compact defensive lines. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play out from the back and leave space behind their midfield.
