One major advantage for Derby is the ability to maintain compactness when defending in a mid-block. The two banks of four make it difficult for opponents to play through the lines or find pockets of space. Another strength is the speed of transition once Durban or Gemmill win possession in the middle. This allows the team to quickly switch play or play direct to Hector and Bloomer to catch the defense unsettled.
