Starting Lineup

Agüero · D.Silva · Hazard · Rakitic · Touré · Hummels · T.Silva · Alba · Casillas · Carvajal · Barzagli

To drive a high press and vertical identity, Inter uses a 3-4-3 formation. The team aims to win it back high up the pitch and move the ball forward with speed to catch the opposition. This lineup is built to spread wide and stretch the defence when attacking to create space in the middle.

Casillas operates in goal to command the defensive unit with his shot-stopping ability. The back line consists of a three man unit featuring Hummels in the centre. Hummels uses his aerial strength and passing range to play out from the back and find teammates. T.Silva plays as the left centre-back to cover the space and step up to intercept the ball. Barzagli sits as the right centre-back to mark the striker and hold the line. This unit works to remain compact and defend zonally.

In the midfield, the team employs a four man unit. Rakitic and Touré occupy the central roles to control the game. Rakitic uses his passing range to play through the lines and recycle possession effectively. Touré has the ability to carry the ball forward to drive the team into the half spaces. Alba and Carvajal provide width from the flanks to keep the pitch large. Alba will overlap the winger to whip it in, while Carvajal must track back to help the defence and prevent counters.

The attack is led by three players across the front. Agüero acts as the lone striker and uses his movement to find space in the box. He will hold up the ball to link play with the players behind him. Hazard plays on the left as an inverted winger and uses his dribbling to cut inside and create danger. D.Silva stays wide on the right to pull defenders away and stretch the opposition. Hazard and D.Silva look to combine in tight spaces to break the line and reach the box.

This 3-4-3 formation offers Inter several tactical advantages. The presence of Alba and Carvajal allows for wide overloads when attacking the final third. The trio of Hummels, T.Silva, and Barzagli provides compactness when defending in a mid-block. The team can also press in waves to force a long ball from the opponent.

This formation is built for aggressive teams that want to control the tempo through quick transitions. It is best suited for matches where Inter needs to pin the opponent in their own half and win the second ball.
