The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier to connect the lines. Musrati plays as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession from deep. Gedson acts as the carrier, driving forward with the ball to break the line and press aggressively to win the ball high. Rafa operates in the half spaces, looking to receive on the half-turn and play through the lines to find the forwards. This trio works to compress the midfield and deny the turn for opposing attackers.

Besiktas uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Immobile acts as a pressing centre-forward who leads the line and looks to find the feet of the striker during combination play. On the wings, Muçi and Rashica act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create overloads in the central areas.
