Hajduk Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Livaja · Kalik · Pukštas · Biuk · Rakitić · Krovinović · Diallo · Prpić · Uremović · Sigur · LučićHajduk looks to play a heavy vertical game with a high press, using a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to attack with massive numbers and force mistakes high up the pitch. The intent is to overwhelm the opposition through directness and speed in transition.
Lučić stands between the posts to guard the goal. The back line operates as a flat back four that can step up to squeeze the space. Sigur plays as the right back and Diallo as the left back to provide width. In the middle, Uremović and Prpić act as the central defenders, with Uremović often playing as a ball playing defender to start attacks. This defensive unit must stay compact to avoid being bypassed by long balls.
The midfield consists of a double pivot that links the defence to the front four. Krovinović and Rakitić sit in front of the back four to protect the central zone and recycle possession. Krovinović works to shield the defence while Rakitić looks to drive forward with the ball to break the line. These two must win the second ball to ensure Hajduk maintains control during the transition from defence to attack.
A high line of four attackers creates constant pressure on the opposition. Biuk and Kalik act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defence, while Biuk often looks to cut inside. Pukštas and Livaja operate as a front two. Livaja, the captain, can drop into the hole to link up play between the lines or hold up the ball for others. Pukštas focuses on runs in behind to exploit the space left by the defenders.
This 4-2-4 formation offers significant tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when the full backs push forward to support the wingers. Hajduk also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the four forwards to trigger a press. This puts immense pressure on the opponent's build up play and forces them into errors.
Hajduk relies on heavy offensive numbers and high intensity to dominate games. This formation is best suited for facing teams that struggle to play out from the back or teams that sit in a low block.
