Starting Lineup

Sardella (Killian) · Simic · Lucas (Fasson) · N'Diaye · Rits · Ronald Falkoski · Stroeykens · Edozie · Alisson (Santana) · Dolberg · Coosemans

Anderlecht plays with a high intensity, attacking identity using a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition through constant pressure and a heavy presence in the attacking third. The team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opponent can settle.

Coosemans is the goalkeeper responsible for protecting the goal. The defense consists of a two-man central line with Lucas and Simic. They must play a high line to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. Lucas and Simic need to be able to step up to intercept through balls and cover the wide areas left by the advancing midfielders. They must also be dominant in the air to win the second ball when the opposition goes direct.

The midfield works as a four-man block to control the game. Rits and Ronald Falkoski act as the central pairing, with Rits working to carry the ball forward and Ronald Falkoski helping to recycle possession. Sardella and N'Diaye occupy the wide positions as RM and LM to provide width. This group must press aggressively to win the ball back and connect the defense to the four attackers. They are tasked with squeezing the space to deny the opponent any room to turn.

Anderlecht utilizes a front four to stretch the defense. Edozie and Alisson play as wide attackers, while Stroeykens and Dolberg operate as two forwards in a partnership. Edozie and Alisson often cut inside to create space for Sardella and N'Diaye to overlap. The central pair, Stroeykens and Dolberg, look to hold up the ball and combine in tight spaces to break the line. The forwards press from the front to force long balls and create chances in transition.

This formation offers the advantage of numerical superiority in the attacking third. Anderlecht can press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back. The speed of transition allows the team to exploit gaps as soon as the ball is won. This lineup also creates wide overloads that can isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This 2-4-4 formation is designed for total offensive dominance and high pressure. It is best suited for matches where the team can pin the opponent in their own half and exploit defensive errors.
