Starting Lineup

Arsenal seeks to control matches through high pressing and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. In the midfield, Arsenal utilizes a two man midfield. Rice acts as a single pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball, while Odegaard plays as a creative engine to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Odegaard works to find the feet of the striker and looks to play through the lines with his passing range. Rice focuses on pressing aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch and uses his physical presence to intercept passes.

The attacking line features three players working in combination. Havertz plays as a pressing centre forward, often dropping into the hole to link up play between the lines. Saka operates as an inverted winger on the right, often cutting inside to create goal scoring chances, while Martinelli stays wide on the left to stretch the defense. These forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball, allowing the defense to reset. Saka and Martinelli often look to hit in behind on the transition once the midfield wins possession.

The main tactical advantages for Arsenal include the ability to press high in coordinated waves and create wide overloads when the wing backs push forward. By using three central defenders, the team maintains compactness when defending and can quickly switch play to the flanks. This allows the side to isolate Saka in one on one situations against a fullback.
