Lecce focuses on a high press and quick verticality using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward through the thirds rapidly to catch the opposition out of position. The intent is to use a high tempo to break the lines and create chances before the opponent can settle.

In the defensive unit, 1 operates from the goal to manage the high line. The back four acts as a zonal line with 13 and 26 playing as the central defenders. 13 acts as a covering defender to sweep behind the line, while 26 stays firm to win the header and clear the lines. The wide defenders, 70 and 29, play as attacking wing backs. 70 will push up to overlap the winger and deliver crosses, while 29 moves to support the midfield and provide width in the transition.

The midfield is a three-man midfield with a single pivot. 8 sits in front of the back four to shield the defence and recycle possession when needed. 10 and 78 act as inverted eights who connect the defensive and attacking lines. 10 works to carry the ball forward into the half-spaces, while 78 makes late runs into the box to arrive in the area. Together, they work to compress the midfield and deny the pivot of the opposition.

The attack features three attackers who press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent. 17 and 22 act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central presence. 17 looks to pull wide to stretch the defence before cutting inside, while 22 tries to isolate a one on one wide. 9 plays as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball for others. This movement creates space for runs in behind and allows the team to get to the byline for cutbacks.

Lecce finds success through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The front three and the midfield trio work together to trigger a press and squeeze the space. Another strength is the wide overloads created when 70 overlaps the winger to create numerical superiority. This makes the team very dangerous during the speed of transition when they can switch play and find runners.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on aggression and rapid forward movement to break down opponents. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and are vulnerable to players who hit in behind on the transition.
