Starting Lineup

Inter Miami aims to control the center of the pitch through constant possession and heavy central density. This lineup operates in a 2-6-2 formation. The goal is to dominate the middle and create constant pressure on the opposition by overloading every zone in the center.

Beside him, GREGORE and YEDLIN provide stability to protect the two defenders. JORDI ALBA sits deeper to help cover the flanks, while MESSI and MATUIDI operate in the half spaces. MESSI will often drop deep to receive on the half turn and pull wide to stretch the defence. This group works to win it back high up the pitch and move the ball through the thirds quickly.

Up front, Inter Miami uses a two-man strike partnership of SUAREZ and HIGUAIN. SUAREZ focuses on link up play to find the feet of teammates and bring others into the game. HIGUAIN works to pin the last defender and make runs in behind. MESSI and MATUIDI act as supporting attackers, often pushing forward to arrive late into the box. The attack relies on quick combinations in tight spaces to break the lines.
