Huracán operates with a focus on defensive solidity and quick transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to sit deep and wait for the right moment to hit the opposition on the break. The team relies on a compact block to deny space in the central areas before using the width of the pitch to launch attacks.

Baley stays between the posts to guard the goal. The back line consists of a back five with Rossi acting as the central figure to lead the unit. Buglione and Alberti operate as the wide centre-backs to provide cover and win headers in the box. Carrascosa and Chabay play as attacking wing backs, tasked to push high up the pitch to support the attack while tracking back to defend the flanks. This unit allows the defenders to maintain a narrow defensive block when the ball is on the opposite side.

In the middle of the pitch, Huracán utilizes a double pivot consisting of Babington and Brindisi. These two players must work hard to shield the defence and win the second ball. Babington often works to carry the ball forward to link the defensive and attacking lines, while Brindisi helps to recycle possession and maintain the formation. The midfield duo must press in a mid-block to force the opposition into wide areas and cut off the passing lane to the opposition strikers.

The front line features three attackers including a central striker and two wide players. Masantonio plays as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Houseman and Méndez operate as wide wingers, with the instruction to stay high and look to isolate a one-on-one wide when they receive the ball. They often look to cut inside or make runs in behind to stretch the defence. The attacking movements rely on the wing backs to overlap the winger, creating crossing opportunities from the byline to find Masantonio in the box.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Chabay and Carrascosa push forward. This forces the opposition to defend more space. Another strength is the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and two midfielders create a very difficult block to pass through. The team can also break quickly using the speed of the front three once the ball is won in the middle third.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a reliable way for Huracán to stay hard to beat while remaining a threat on the break. It is best suited for games against teams that hold a lot of possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
