In the middle, Bastos and Marçal work together to defend the central zone, with Bastos using his aerial strength to defend crosses and Marçal covering the space behind the advancing full backs.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to manage the central area. Allan plays as the primary shield, using his high pressing intensity to win back possession and disrupt the opponent. Beside him, Barbosa connects the defensive unit to the attack, looking to recycle possession and move the ball quickly to the flanks. This pair must work hard to cover the gaps left when the full backs push forward, ensuring the team does not get caught on the counter.

In the attacking phase, Botafogo employs four players across the front line to stretch the defence. Luiz Henrique and J.Santos act as wide wingers, with Luiz Henrique looking to cut inside to create threats and J.Santos stretching the play along the touchline. Almada plays as a central attacker, operating in the pockets to find passes through the lines. Igor Jesus leads the line as a physical presence, holding up the ball to allow the wingers and Almada to arrive late into the box.

One major advantage for Botafogo is the ability to create wide overloads when Telles and Rafael push up to support the wingers. The team also gains numerical superiority in the final third, which forces the opposition to drop into a low block to manage the runners. This setup allows for a very fast speed of transition, making them dangerous when they win the ball in the middle third.
