The goalkeeper stays on the line to protect the goal as the back unit settles into a deep block. A back three forms the core of the defense with the CB playing as the central man while the RCB and LCB cover the half spaces. To provide width, the RB acts as an attacking wing back and the LB moves forward to support the play. The DM sits just ahead of the central defenders to act as a shield and sweep up loose balls.
