Celta looks to play a vertical brand of football using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup focuses on quick transitions and winning the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents off guard. The tactical identity is built around directness and pushing the opposition back into their own half. By using this formation, the team seeks to stretch the defence and create constant movement in the final third.

V. Guaita stays in goal to command his area and sweep behind the back line. The defensive unit works with a back three consisting of Starfelt, Marcos A., and Javi Rodríguez. Starfelt sits in the middle to act as the primary central defender who wins the ball in the air and holds the line. Marcos A. and Javi Rodríguez play as wide centre-backs, tasked to cover the channels and step up to engage attackers. This trio works to maintain a compact block when defending.

The midfield relies on a double pivot of Illaix Moriba and Fran Beltran. Moriba works to shield the defence and intercept play, while Fran Beltran is able to carry the ball forward and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Hugo Alvarez and O. Mingueza occupy the wide areas to provide necessary width. They must track back to help the defence and then push up to support the attack when the team has possession. This allows the midfield to help Celta transition from a defensive block to an attacking force.

In the attacking phase, B. Iglesias operates as a lone striker to lead the front line. He must hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates to keep the attack moving. Williot and Fer López play as wide attackers on the flanks. They look to cut inside and create a central presence or run in behind the defence to exploit space. The team builds attacks through quick combinations and seeks to isolate one on one situations for the forwards.

The tactical advantages of this formation are clear. The team can create wide overloads when the wide midfielders push high, often leaving the opposition defenders outnumbered. There is also a significant ability to press in coordinated waves, which triggers a press high up the pitch to win possession quickly. This creates many chances to counter at pace before the opponent can settle.

This 3-4-3 formation is designed for high intensity and rapid attacking transitions. It is most effective against teams that play with a high line and can be exploited through runs in behind.
