Boca aims to play a high intensity, vertical game to catch the opposition out of position. This offensive mindset is expressed through a 4-2-4 formation that looks to overwhelm the opponent in the final third. The lineup is built to stretch the pitch and score as many goals as possible by keeping the numbers high up the pitch.

Brey operates in goal to organize the back line and sweep behind whenever the defense plays a high line. The defensive unit consists of a flat back four where Refuerzo and Rojo occupy the central defender roles to defend zonally. Blanco acts as the left back to provide width, while Refuerzo holds the right side. These defenders must stay compact to protect the space behind them and win the second ball when the opposition plays long.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to maintain balance. Refuerzo and Refuerzo occupy the central slots to shield the defense and recycle possession. One of these players acts as the carrier to drive forward with the ball, while the other stays deeper to deny the pivot of the opposition. This pair works to connect the defensive line to the front four, making sure to pick up runners and prevent counter attacks.

The attack is heavy with four players looking to exploit spaces. Cavani and Palacios act as two central forwards, with Cavani using his experience to hold up the ball and Palacios looking to hit in behind on the transition. Zeballos operates on the left wing to cut inside and create chances, while Refuerzo stays wide on the right. This front line is designed to press from the front and force a long ball from the opposition defenders.

One major advantage for Boca is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers. The team also benefits from the speed of transition, as the four attackers can move quickly to catch a low block off guard. This setup allows the side to pin the last defender and create many chances in the box through direct play.

This 4-2-4 formation is a high risk, high reward system built for heavy attacking. It is best suited for games where the opponent sits deep and Boca needs to find ways to break the lines.
