Mansilla starts in goal to command the penalty area. The defensive unit sits in a flat back four with Lollo and Boselli acting as the two central defenders. Lollo acts as a covering defender while Boselli looks to win headers and clear the lines. Meza operates as the right back to provide width, while Benedetti plays as the left back to help the defensive line stay compact. The unit works together to squeeze the space between the lines and prevent through balls.

In the middle of the pitch, the five-man midfield works to control the tempo. Ascacibar and E. Pérez form a double pivot to shield the defence. Ascacibar is tasked to intercept passes and win the second ball. Manyoma, Burgos, and Palacios occupy the remaining central and wide spaces. Palacios helps to connect the defensive and attacking lines by carrying the ball forward. The midfield works to compress the center of the pitch and ensure the team remains hard to break down.

The attacking phase relies on the lone striker Carrillo. Carrillo plays as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line and hold up the ball for others. The team attacks in combinations when they win the ball high up the pitch. Wide midfielders often pull wide to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. Carrillo must work to find the feet of teammates or lay it off to players like Manyoma or Burgos.

One major strength of Estudiantes (LP) is the ability to remain compact when defending. The five midfielders and four defenders make it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. Another advantage is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to win the second ball frequently. This allows the team to break quickly once the ball is recovered.
