Arsenal aims to control the game through high pressing and rapid ball movement in a 4-4-2. Kai Havertz operates as a mobile forward who often drops into the hole to link play, while Leandro Trossard works as a second striker to exploit the spaces created by those movements. The attackers press in pairs to force a long ball from the opposition. This attacking setup relies on quick combinations and runs in behind to break the line of the defence.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it hard for opponents to play out from the back. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when Saka or Martinelli receive the ball in space. By using a two man front line, the team can also create numerical superiority in the attacking third through late runs into the box.
