River focuses on a direct and vertical style of play using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to strike quickly through the middle while maintaining a heavy presence in the central areas. The tactical intent is to catch the opposition out of position by using sudden bursts of movement from the front line.

Armani operates between the posts to command the defensive area. The back line functions as a back five where Villagra acts as the central anchor to win the header and clear the lines. Pezzella sits as the right centre back to cover space and intercept passes, while M. Quarta provides a ball playing presence on the left. Acuña acts as an attacking wing back on the left flank to spread the width, whereas Montiel or Bustos serves as the right wing back to provide cover and support the advance. The unit works to hold the line and defend zonally to prevent central breakthroughs.

The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier. REFUERZO plays a central role to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. ¿Matias Rojas? operates in the left half space to help recycle possession and find the feet of the striker. Leo Fernandez sits slightly higher as an attacking ten to create chances and play through the lines. This group works to compress the midfield and win the second ball to maintain control of the central zone.

River utilizes two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. The attacking unit relies on REFUERZO to lead the line, often playing as a pressing centre forward to force a long ball from the opposition. Colidio can join the attack to provide link up play between the lines or work as a second striker. These attackers look to hit in behind on the transition and use quick one twos to break the line. The wing backs push high to provide width, allowing the forwards to focus on finding pockets of space.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as the ability to provide wide overloads from the wing backs when they overlap. The central trio of REFUERZO, ¿Matias Rojas?, and Leo Fernandez allows the team to maintain numerical superiority in midfield. Additionally, the back five ensures compactness when defending in a mid block.

River employs a setup that prioritizes central strength and rapid verticality. This formation is best suited for matches where the team needs to sit deep and hit in behind a dominant opponent.
