Armani starts between the posts, acting as the final line of defense. The back five features Villagra, Pezzella, and M. Quarta, who form a central trio designed to win the second ball and protect the area. Pezzella provides aerial strength and experience in the heart of the defense, while M. Quarta covers the spaces behind as a ball playing defender. On the flanks, Acuña operates as an attacking wing back on the left, while Montiel or Bustos provides the same role on the right. These wide defenders are expected to push up to provide width and track back quickly when the ball is lost.

The midfield is composed of a three man unit that connects the defensive line to the attack. Matias Rojas and REFUERZO work in the central areas to shield the defense and recycle possession. Leo Fernandez plays in a more advanced role, acting as an attacking ten to link the midfield to the strikers. REFUERZO has the responsibility to carry the ball forward and drive into the half spaces, while the others focus on pressing in a mid block to win the ball back. This unit must stay tight to avoid being bypassed by direct play.

In the final third, River uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. Colidio and REFUERZO operate as the front two, with one often acting as a pressing centre forward to disrupt the build up play. The team looks to use the width provided by Acuña and Montiel or Bustos to deliver crosses into the box. Whether attacking in combinations or through quick transitions, the goal is to find the feet of the striker or exploit the space behind the opposition defense with runs in behind.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for River. The presence of three central defenders makes the team very hard to break down in a low block, providing stability against teams that rely on a target man. By using wing backs, the team can create wide overloads to bypass a narrow midfield. Additionally, the two strikers can isolate wide defenders in one on one situations during a break.
