This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use the central presence of two strikers to stretch the opposition. The system relies on verticality and directness to punish teams that leave space behind their defensive line.

Armani stays between the posts to organize the back five. The defensive unit functions as a narrow defensive block with three central defenders. Pezzella and M. Quarta act as the primary ball playing defenders, while Villagra or REFUERZO provides additional cover. Acuña operates as an attacking wing back on the left to provide width, while Montiel or Bustos provides the same role on the right. This back line stays compact to deny the turn to oncoming attackers and ensures the team can shift quickly to cover the flanks.

The midfield works as a three man midfield with a carrier. REFUERZO or Simon acts as the engine to drive forward with the ball, while Matias Rojas links the defensive and attacking lines from the left. Leo Fernandez operates as an attacking ten behind the strikers to create chances in the pockets of space. This unit seeks to win the second ball and compress the midfield to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

In the attacking phase, River uses two forwards in a partnership to pin the last defender. Colidio or REFUERZO can operate as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. The team looks to create runs in behind and use the width provided by the wing backs to deliver crosses into the box. When the team attacks in transition, the movement of the strikers and the late runs from Leo Fernandez create constant threats in central areas.

River benefits from a high level of compactness when defending in a mid-block. The ability to use wide overloads from Acuña and Montiel or Bustos forces the opposition to spread wide, creating gaps in the middle. This formation also allows for great speed of transition when the ball is won high up the pitch, turning defense into attack in seconds.
