The midfield functions with a double pivot to protect the center of the pitch. ZE ROBERTO and CLEBER SANTANA operate as the two holding midfielders to shield the defense and recycle possession. Moving higher up, RICARDINHO and TABATA occupy the wide roles in the central midfield line. RICARDINHO works on the right to carry the ball forward, while TABATA operates on the left to find space between the lines. This four man unit aims to press in a mid-block to force the opponent into mistakes.

The attack relies on a partnership of two forwards to pressure the opposition back line. DEIVID and LUIZAO work together to push the defenders back, often looking to run in behind or hold up the ball for others. DEIVID uses his movement to create space, while LUIZAO provides a presence in the box to finish chances. The team builds play by spreading wide to use the full width of the pitch, often looking for cutbacks from the byline or quick combinations in the final third.

Santos gains a significant advantage through their ability to press in pairs across the midfield. This setup creates compactness when defending, making it difficult for opponents to play through the center. The two forwards and the wide midfielders can also create quick transitions to isolate wide players in one on one situations once the ball is won high up the pitch.
