Amaral operates as a central midfielder to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Juninho/Pernambucano and Juninho Paulista act as the wide midfielders in the half spaces. This group works to compress the midfield and ensure that the team can recycle possession quickly to maintain pressure.

The attacking front three is designed to create chaos through directness and movement. Romario plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and find space in the box. Edmundo operates on the right wing, providing a threat through his movement and ability to find goal scoring opportunities.
