Starting Lineup

CARNESECCHI? MERET? (Martinelli/ Franco) · Dahl · Reyes · MONTES · Tobias · Kjaergaard · RICCI · Miretti · CHIESA · LEONARDI · TAKE KUBO° (GUL)

Bari aims to play a direct and high pressing game using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit spaces quickly in transition. The team relies on heavy verticality to catch the opposition off guard.

CARNESECCHI? MERET? acts as the goalkeeper behind a deep defensive block. The back line operates as a back five where RICCI sits centrally to command the area and win headers. Montes plays as the right centre back to provide cover, while Reyes operates as the left centre back. To provide width, Tobias works as an attacking wing back on the right and Dahl pushes up as an attacking wing back on the left. This unit works together to squeeze the space and protect the central zone.

The midfield consists of a two man midfield with Miretti and Kjaergaard acting as the engine. Miretti works to shield the defense and press aggressively to win the ball back. Kjaergaard connects the defensive and attacking lines by carrying the ball forward into the half spaces. These two midfielders must work hard to cover the ground and ensure the team does not get bypassed in the center.

Bari uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. LEONARDI acts as a pressing centre forward to harass the opposition centre backs. On the flanks, CHIESA plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances. TAKE KUBO° plays on the right wing and looks to isolate his marker in one on one situations. The front three work to pin the last defender and create runs in behind.

One major tactical advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when Tobias and Dahl push high up the pitch. Another strength is the speed of transition when the midfield wins the ball and immediately finds the wide players. This formation also allows for compactness when defending in a low block.

Bari uses this 5-2-3 to punish teams that play a high line. It is a setup designed to thrive against opponents that struggle to handle intense pressing and quick vertical passing.
