Junior plays a high press and vertical style of football in a 4-3-3. This lineup focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and attacking the opponent quickly. The team looks to control the game through heavy pressure and directness to catch the opposition off guard.

S. Mele plays behind a flat back four. Herrera acts as a right back to provide width while J. Navia operates on the left. In the center, Rivera and H. Mena form the defensive pair. Rivera focuses on covering the space while H. Mena uses his strength to win the header. The back line stays compact to deny the turn to attackers and keep the distance between the defenders small. Junior works to hold a high line to squeeze the space and force a long ball.

The midfield operates with an attacking ten behind the striker. Carlos Cantillo acts as the deep connector with his great passing range and ball control to help the team play out from the back. D. Moreno sits alongside him to help shield the defense and win the second ball. James operates in the hole as the attacking midfielder. He uses his incredible passing range and set piece delivery to break the line and find attackers in dangerous areas. This midfield unit connects the defense to the attack by recycling possession and finding players in space.

The attack uses three players across the front to stretch the defense. C. Bacca acts as the central striker, using his clinical finishing and movement in the box to pin the last defender. On the flanks, Enamorado and D. Caicedo play as wide wingers. Enamorado looks to get to the byline and whip it in, while D. Caicedo often cuts inside to create overloads. The team looks to play through the lines or use the wingers to isolate a one on one situation.

One main strength of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves with James and the front three. The midfield provides numerical superiority when Carlos Cantillo and D. Moreno control the center and win the ball back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the speed of transition when the team wins the ball and immediately finds C. Bacca or the wingers to hit in behind on the transition.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on aggressive pressing and quick ball movement to overwhelm the opponent. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back or leave space behind their midfield.
