Padt sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a back five, with Pedro Naressi acting as the central defender to anchor the area. Kurtulus and Almeida provide cover as the wide centre-backs, focusing on winning the second ball and marking any runs in behind. Son and Gropper act as attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and tracking back to defend the flanks. This defensive unit works to maintain a narrow defensive block that is hard to penetrate.

The midfield works in a flat four to maintain compactness. Chochev and Duarte sit in the center to shield the defense and win possession.
