Flamengo Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Cris · Fernanda · Glaucia · Juliana · Djeni · Leidiane · Flavia · Núbia · Fabi · Jucinara · ViviFlamengo aims to dominate games through a high press and rapid transitions, utilizing a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch and win the ball back high up the pitch. The team works to control the rhythm by pressing in pairs to force errors from the opposition.
Vivi sits between the posts to command the area and start play. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four, with Fabi and Jucinara acting as the wide defenders. Fabi holds the right side while Jucinara pushes up to provide width. In the center, Núbia and Flavia act as the primary defenders, focusing on defending zonally and winning the second ball. They work to keep the defensive line high to support the midfield.
The midfield relies on a single pivot to protect the back four. Juliana plays as the holding midfielder to shield the defense and recycle possession. Ahead of her, Djeni and Leidiane operate in the central areas to connect the defensive and attacking lines. They are tasked to cover ground and pick up runners in the middle. Glaucia and Fernanda operate in the half spaces as two attacking midfielders, looking to create chances and arrive late into the box.
Flamengo uses a lone striker to lead the line. Cris acts as the pressing centre forward, working to pin the last defender and disrupt the opposition build up. While Cris holds up the ball, Glaucia and Fernanda push forward to support the attack. This creates a front three that can quickly switch play or exploit gaps through the middle. The goal is to use the movement of the wide attacking midfielders to create runs in behind the defense.
This formation offers significant advantages in terms of central compactness when defending. By crowding the midfield, Juliana, Djeni, and Leidiane make it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Flamengo also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the front line and attacking midfielders triggering a press to win the ball close to the goal.
This 4-5-1 formation is designed for a high intensity game focused on winning possession quickly. It is best suited for facing teams that try to build play slowly through the middle of the pitch.
