Flamengo Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Cris · Fernanda · Glaucia · Juliana · Djeni · Agustina · Flavia · Núbia · Fabi · Jucinara · ViviFlamengo aims to dominate the pitch through a high press and central control using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to control the middle of the park and force turnovers in advanced areas. The lineup focuses on high energy to win the ball back quickly and use the central overload to break lines.
Vivi guards the goal as the last line of defense. In front of her, a back three consists of Núbia, Flavia, and Agustina. Núbia acts as the central anchor to hold the line, while Flavia and Agustina provide cover on the left and right sides. The defensive unit can shift into a back five when defending deep to squeeze the space and deny the turn of opposition attackers. They focus on maintaining compactness to stop through balls.
The midfield is a five man unit that provides a massive presence in the center. Juliana and Djeni form a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. Jucinara and Fabi operate as the two central midfielders, helping to recycle possession and carry the ball forward into the final third. Glaucia plays as the attacking ten behind the two forwards, looking to find space between the lines and play through the lines with decisive passes. This group works to press in a mid-block and win the second ball to maintain pressure.
Flamengo attacks with two forwards in a partnership. Fernanda and Cris work together to stretch the defense, with one often looking to pin the last defender while the other makes runs in behind. The midfielders support this front line by arriving late into the box to provide extra goal threat. When the team wins the ball high up the pitch, they look to transition quickly, using the central strength to combine in tight spaces and create chances through quick combinations.
One major tactical advantage of this Flamengo formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to control the tempo of the game. The presence of Glaucia behind the strikers helps to isolate defenders in one on one situations once the midfield line is bypassed. Additionally, the central density makes it very hard for opponents to play through the middle, forcing them to go wide where they can be doubled up on.
This 3-5-2 setup is a high intensity formation designed to dominate central areas of the pitch. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to build play through the center rather than using wide crossing threats.
