Spain National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
Ramallets · Olivella · Kubala · Suarez · Martínez · Segarra · Jesus Garay · Santamaría · Martí Vergés · Basora · Enrique CollarSpain looks to control the game through high intensity and direct attacking play in this 3-4-3 formation. The lineup is built to squeeze the space in the opposition half and create constant threats through the wide channels. By using a heavy presence across the pitch, Spain can move the ball quickly to catch the defense before they can set their line.
Ramallets stays between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. The back line consists of a three man central defense where Jesus Garay acts as a central presence to clear the lines. Santamaría occupies the left side of the trio to cover the space, while Olivella plays on the right to maintain a compact defensive unit. This back three works to hold the line and ensures the team remains difficult to break down through the middle.
The midfield functions with a central pairing and two advanced creators. Segarra and Martí Vergés operate as a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Segarra works to win the second ball, while Martí Vergés helps to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Further up the pitch, Suarez and Kubala operate in the half spaces to create chances and press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch.
The attack uses three forwards to stretch the opposition. Basora plays on the right wing to pull wide and provide width, while Enrique Collar operates on the left to cut inside and challenge the full backs. Martínez acts as the lone striker to lead the line and hold up the ball. This front three works to pin the last defender and create runs in behind through quick combinations and movement.
Spain finds strength in their ability to press in a mid-block and transition with great speed. The combination of the double pivot and the two advanced creators allows for numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. This lineup also creates wide overloads when the attackers and midfielders combine to isolate defenders in one on one situations.
This 3-4-3 formation provides a balanced way to dominate both possession and territory. It is a lineup best suited for games where Spain needs to break down a deep block or outmuscle an opponent in the middle of the pitch.
