Focusing on quick transitions and verticality, Dinamo utilizes a 5-2-3 formation to catch opponents off guard. This lineup is built to play with speed, looking to hit teams in behind as soon as the ball is won. Livaković stands between the posts to command the area and organize the back line. The defensive unit works as a back three with Ademi acting as the central anchor to win headers and cover space. Beside him, Dilaver and KTC provide width and strength, while Etto and Cufre play as attacking wing backs to provide the necessary width in the final third. When defending, the team can drop into a low block, making it very difficult for the opposition to find space between the lines.

In the center of the pitch, Dinamo operates with a two-man midfield consisting of Olmo and Prosinečki. This pairing must work hard to protect the central area and connect the defense to the front three. Olmo acts as a carrier to move the ball forward, while Prosinečki looks to recycle possession and find passing lanes to the attackers. The attacking front three features Oršić and Soudani as wide players, while Eduardo leads the line as a lone striker. Oršić and Soudani often cut inside to create space for the wing backs to overlap, or they might stay wide to stretch the defense. Eduardo works to hold up the ball and create link-up play with the midfielders, often making runs in behind to exploit high lines. This front line is designed to press the opposition back line immediately to win the ball high up the pitch.

One major advantage for Dinamo is the ability to create wide overloads using the wing backs. When Etto and Cufre push forward, they create a numerical superiority on the flanks that forces the opposition to shift heavily to one side. Another strength is the speed of transition, as the team can move from a defensive block to a three-man attack in seconds.
