Starting Lineup

Seeking to dominate the ball through technical skill, Dinamo plays a highly possession based style of football in a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup relies on technical superiority to control the tempo and dictate how the game is played in the middle third. The team looks to move the ball through short passes to break the lines of the opposition.

Ladić operates between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line works as a flat back four where Ćorluka acts as the right back to provide stability. Šimunić plays at left back to support the flank while R. Kovač and Zajec occupy the central defender roles. Zajec uses his aerial strength to defend set pieces and R. Kovač provides cover when the team plays a high line to squeeze the space. This unit defends zonally to maintain a compact block when the ball is lost.

The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier and playmakers to link the play. Modrić operates in the center, using his passing range to switch play and control the rhythm. Boban and Prosinečki play as the two central midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Modrić often drops deep to receive the ball from the defenders and play out from the back, while Boban and Prosinečki look to find space between the lines to drive forward. This trio is responsible for recycling possession and keeping the ball moving.

Dinamo utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Šuker acts as a clinical pressing centre-forward who looks to find space in the box. On the flanks, Kranjčar plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside, while Mlinarić stays wide on the left to provide width. This attacking setup creates runs in behind and allows the forwards to combine in tight spaces. The wingers look to isolate defenders in one on one situations to create chances for Šuker.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages such as numerical superiority in midfield due to the technical ability of Modrić, Boban, and Prosinečki.
