Raya stays between the posts to start the build up play from the back. In front of him, a flat back four provides a solid foundation. Saliba acts as a ball playing defender with high composure, while Gabriel uses his aerial strength to defend the central zone. White operates as an attacking full back to provide width, whereas Calafiori can tuck inside to help control the central area. The back line moves up to maintain a high line and trigger a press when the ball is lost.

The midfield works as a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Partey sits in the hole to shield the defence and recycle possession. Rice drives forward with the ball to carry it into the final third, while Ødegaard operates as the creative link. Ødegaard uses his passing range to find teammates and connects the defensive and attacking lines. This group works to win the ball back high up the pitch and quickly move it forward to the attackers.

In the final third, Arsenal utilizes three attackers across the front. Havertz works as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball for others. Saka stays wide on the right to isolate defenders one on one, often cutting inside to create chances. On the left, Martinelli uses his pace to make runs in behind. This attacking unit relies on combinations in tight spaces and quick transitions to catch the opposition out of position.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. Arsenal can create wide overloads when White and Saka occupy the same flank. The midfield also provides numerical superiority in the centre of the pitch, allowing the team to control the tempo and move the ball through the thirds with ease.
